Licensing

HMB is a proven and sustainable nutritional ingredient that is safe. It is a very stable compound that can be formulated into a number of products including, capsules, tablets, dry powders and liquid drinks. Metabolic Technologies Inc. (MTI) has exclusively licensed HMB patents from The Iowa State University Research Foundation (Ames, Iowa) which cover the known nutritional uses for HMB in both animals and humans. MTI requires all manufactures and/or retailers to obtain a sublicense to use HMB in nutritional products. This sublicense requires the user of HMB to purchase all HMB used from MTI. In addition MTI requires that any formulation of HMB must contain sufficient HMB per serving to assure effectiveness when used according to directions. MTI monitors all products containing HMB to assure these standards are applied.
MTI and the Iowa State University Research Foundation aggressively monitor the use of HMB and pursue infringements to the full extent of the law.
